We have created an impressive basement including a ground floor refurbishment in a terraced house in Parsons Green, having a gross internal area of 60 square meters under the ground.

The Challenges

The owner wanted a new contemporary habitable space under the footprint of the house with 2600 mm finished ceiling height throughout basement floor area. The internal layout comprises an open entertainment room, a bedroom, a utility room and a wc/shower room.

A full excavation of the shell and underpinning was followed by complete waterproofing of basement walls and floor which keeps the basement completely dry and free from any moisture. Mains drainage has been installed for the bathroom and toilet linked to an underground macerator pump to evacuate bathroom waste.

A metal stud wall system was built and all the electrics and plumbing routed through the stud wall system. We followed this with insulation, plasterboarding, plastering, joinery works and the installation of the bathroom, followed by full decoration including floor coverings with skirting boards.

The natural light is provided by two light wells – to the front and rear, both with security grill over.
