A substantial basement in a one storey detached property in the heart of Putney, having a gross internal area of 238 squares meter with 2400 mm finished ceiling high.

The Challenges

Abreast with a demanding dig out and underpinning we installed a significant amount of steel beams and columns to the floor/ceiling to provide structural stability to the walls above. After the installation of a full drainage management system, incorporating sumps and pumps, all wall and floor areas have been fully tanked with cavity drainage membranes. A full fit out with new stud walling, insulation, plasterboarding, doors and windows, staircase, skirting boards was followed by the finishing decoration.

New electrical and plumbing system was installed including newmega-flow system, radiators, bathroom appliances, electrical consumer units, power outlets and sockets and modern lighting. Natural light and ventilation together with a secondary means of escape are provided by one lightwell to the front with security grill over and a second lightwell to the rear with steps to access the rear garden.

The new habitable space provides a large living that can be used as music room, a separate media room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a gym. In addition to the creation of the basement, the project included a side extension to the ground floor which can be seen at the far and of the house on the picture about the front elevation.
